Devont Software's
LANTools Version 2.21
May 3, 1991
╒══════════════╕
│ Introduction │
╘══════════════╛
As a Systems Administrator or one who creates networks for a
living, you probably already know that the glue that holds these
complex systems together is the little Batch files and utilities.
Devont Software's LANTools is a collection of such utilities
designed to make your life a little easier.
╒══════════════╕
│ Requirements │
╘══════════════╛
Most of the functions in LANTools operate directly with the Novell
Bindery information. Because of this integration with Netware,
LANTools will not work on any other network type, or on stand-alone
machines. Besides that small requirement, you should have the
following resources available:
√ IBM Personal Computer or Compatible.
√ 256K RAM Free or more
√ VGA, EGA, CGA, Mono, or Hercules Monitors are supported
√ Novell Netware 2.1x and above, or ELS versions (versions below
2.1x may not support the printing functions)
╒══════════════════════════╕
│ Registration and Support │
╘══════════════════════════╛
LANTools is not free software. If is not and will never be in the
public domain. You are granted a limited license to test the program
to see if it fits in your environment. If you use any of the utilities
contained in this package after a 30 day trial period, you need to
support our development efforts by sending a check or money order
for $75.00 per site in US Funds to:
Devont Software
85 Brandon
Conroe, Texas 77302
BBS - (409) 273-3112
CIS: 70421,1506
Technical support and upgrades are available by calling our Technical
Support Bulletin Board (BBS). We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week, and support 300-2400bps. We would like to hear from you if you
have any suggestions, improvement ideas, customization requests or
complaints. We take them all. You can call our tech support
telephone number between the hours of 7pm and 10pm CST. We would like
to hear from you. (409) 321-3220. Weekends from noon to 7pm CST.
╒═════════════╕
│ Conventions │
╘═════════════╛
In the functional descriptions below, the following conventions are
used:
[option] Options enclosed in brackets are optional.
/x= Lettered options are required parameters.
FILESPEC Any file specification, such as *.EXE, z:\joe.txt
FILE.EXT Any valid Filename, such as z:\public\joe.txt
╒═════════════════╕
│ LANTools Attach │
╘═════════════════╛
Description: LANTools Attach is functionally equivalent to Netware's
ATTACH command, with the major difference in that
the interface is much prettier. Users can select a
file server that is not already attached by using a
bouncebar menu. Attach prompts the user for
required information, and tells them whether the
attachment was successful.
Use: LANTools Attach [/q]
Parameters
/q Use "Quiet Mode." Do not clear the screen after
the program has completed.
/c (Color - Optional) Select a color from 1 -4
╒══════════════════════════╕
│ LANTools Bulletin Master │
╘══════════════════════════╛
Description: LANTools BBS allows the system administrator to set
up ASCII text files, then display them to particular
groups of users upon login, or from a menu item.
Using this feature, you can notify your users of any
events, procedures, or policies.
If you specify multiple text files, BBS will
display a bouncebar menu of available bulletins,
and will allow the user to point and shoot the
bulletins he wants to read.
Use: BBS /f=FILESPEC [/g=GROUP,GROUP,GROUP] [/q]
Example: LANTools BBS /f=z:*.bbs /g=ADMIN,TECH
Parameters
/f (Filespec - Required) Can be any filename, or group
of files. You can add any fully qualified pathname, one
filename, etc.
/g (Groups - Optional) BBS will check to see that the user
running the program is a member of this group (or
several groups separated by a comma) if this
optional parameter is used. If you do not specify
a group, BBS will assume EVERYONE can read the
bulletins specified.
/q (Quiet Mode - optional): Do not display any message
if no bulletin files are available.
/c (Color - Optional) Select a color from 1 -4
Text File When creating a text file for display in BBS, the
Notes very first line can contain a title. To display
the title when multiple text files are available,
use the following format:
^^This is the Title^^
..Rest of ASCII text file
╒══════════════════╕
│ LANTools Capture │
╘══════════════════╛
Description: LANTools Capture is functionally equivalent to
Netware's CAPTURE command. With LANTools Capture,
you can redirect your LPT1-4's output to any
defined network queue, or end a capture session,
and return print operations to a local printer.
Capture does all this with complete error checking
and friendly interfacing.
If you are attached to multiple servers (via
Netware's ATTACH or LANTools' ATTACH command), you
can press the <Spacebar> while viewing the Print
Queue listing to change to the next server. You can
then capture to a queue on another server.
Use: LANTools Capture [/q]
Parameters:
/q (Quiet Mode - optional): Do not clear the screen
when the program completes.
/c (Color - Optional) Select a color from 1 -4
╒═══════════════════╕
│ LANTools ChangePW │
╘═══════════════════╛
Use: LANTools ChangePW USERID NEW_PASS_WORD
Parameters:
USERID User ID to Change
NEWPASSWORD New Password
╒════════════════════╕
│ LANTools CheckPass │
╘════════════════════╛
Description: LANTools CheckPass is a simple utility that allows you to
prompt the user for a password. If the correct password
is entered, a DOS ERRORLEVEL of 1 is returned. Incorrect
passwords return a DOS ERRORLEVEL of 0.
Parameters:
/p=Password (Required Parameter): This parameter tells CheckPass what
the correct password is. Not case sensitive.
/c (Color - Optional) Select a color from 1 - 4.
/q (Quiet Mode - Optional): Do not clear the screen when the
program completes.
╒═══════════════════╕
│ LANTools DefaultQ │
╘═══════════════════╛
Description: LANTools Default-Q allows you to set up default print
queues for each user, then automatically cature to
that queue upon login or any other time.
DefaultQ uses the same parameters as Novell's CAPTURE
program to change the settings of the current Capture
setting, but using the queue that the Supervisor or
user has set up.
The unique parameters to DefaultQ are /C and /U.
/c = Configure DefaultQ
/u = Un-Install DefaultQ
RETURNS If used as a CAPTURE command, DOS ERRORLEVEL 1 is
returned if the capture environment is not changed -
some kind of error occurred. Otherwise, ERRORLEVEL 0
is returned if everything is successful.
You can test this ERRORLEVEL in a batch file such as:
@echo off
LANTools DefaultQ /nb /nff /ti=10
IF ERRORLEVEL 1 goto ERROR
goto EXIT
:ERROR
LANTools Message /m="Network Printer Not Selected"
:EXIT
Use: LANTools DefaultQ [/c] [/u] [ /b=BannerTxt /nb /ff /nff /ti=n ... ]
PARAMETERS /c Configure DefaultQ
/u Uninstall DefaultQ
Other Parameters supported are the same as Novell's CAPTURE
command, such as /b=BannerText, /nb, /ti=3, /nff (etc.)
Why Use DefaultQ
Let's say you are running a network with about 20 printers, and 50 users.
If you would like to automatically run a CAPTURE statement on each user
in the login process, you have roughly four choices:
1. Create a User Login Script and run the #CAPTURE statement. This is
fine for smaller networks, but who wants to maintain all those user
Login Scripts? It's usually a good idea to avoid using them if at
all possible.
2. Allow the user to create his own personal print queue and defaults
using the PRINTCON program. This is a good way to do it, but who
wants to explain the inner workings of the Netware print services
and/or print options to a legal secretary? You'd probably end up
creating a bunch of them yourself, or copying the same definition
from one user to the other, limiting the customizability, and in
the end you'll have to edit all these over again someday when they
move down the hall to a new office.
3. Create a Group the same name as the name of the print queue, then
make all the users who need to print to that printer a member of this
new group. You could then test for membership to the printer groups
in the login script, and do some nifty branching. Well, again, if
you have 20 printers, that's an extra 20 groups, and 20 different
tests in the System Login script you'd have to make to see which
group they are a member of....not to mention the chance for errors
in putting all the right users in all the right places.
4. You could create a file, add all the UserIDs and their default print
queue next to it, then write a simple program that looks at the
file one entry at a time, reads the name, the print queue, and then
does something fancy to actually call the CAPTURE routines in
Netware. Big pain. Plus, you've then got a file to maintain.
How Does DefaultQ Work?
DefaultQ uses standard Netware services to write to the user data file,
known as the Bindery. DefaultQ stores one vital peice of information
next to the user account property: The default print name that either
you or he set up. If DefaultQ has never been configured for a particular
user, then nothing is written to that user account.
After DefaultQ has been set up for a user, they can execute the
DefaultQ command. The program picks up the name of the default print
queue, any valid CAPTURE parameters entered along with the basic command,
then again uses standard Netware services to create the CAPTURE environment.
If DefultQ has not been set up for a user and it is run like a CAPTURE
command, a DOS ERRORLEVEL 0 is returned, and the CAPTURE environment is
not affected.
╒═══════════════════╕
│ LANTools IsMember │
╘═══════════════════╛
Description: LANTools IsMember is a batch file enhancer. This
utility allows you to determine if a user is a
member of a particular group. LANTools IsMember
returns a DOS ERRORLEVEL that you can test and
perform conditional branching.
Use: LANTools IsMember /g=GROUP1,GROUP2
Parameters:
/g (Group(s) - Required) Specify the group (or groups
separated with a comma) to check.
/q (Quiet Mode - optional): Do not clear the screen
when the program completes.
/c (Color - Optional) Select a color from 1 -4
Returns: ERRORLEVEL 1 = User is a member of at least one of the
specified groups.
ERRORLEVEL 0 = User is NOT a member of at least one of the
specified group(s).
╒═══════════════╕
│ LANTools List │
╘═══════════════╛
Description: LANTools List is a simple file viewer for ASCII
text files. I'm sure you have seen programs like
LIST, BROWSE, or maybe you have written your own.
This program is a simple version of those, but in a
form that even the most computer-illiterate users
can use without getting overly confused. In
addition, this program follows the other LANTools
in the interface, giving your system a colorful,
fluid feel.
Use: LANTools List [/f=FILE.EXT] [/q] [/c=1-4]
Parameters
/f (FileName - Optional Parameter): any valid file
name, such as Z:FRED.TXT. If the file does not
exist, a message displays. Note also the text file
to display is limited to 64K. If a filename is
not specified, you are prompted to enter one.
/q (Quiet Mode - optional): Do not clear the screen
when the program finishes.
/c (Color - Optional) Select a color from 1 -4
╒═══════════════╕
│ LANTools Lock │
╘═══════════════╛
Description: LANTools Lock allows you to lock your computer
while you are away at lunch or away from your desk.
You can display a brief message to those who come
to your desk and look at your screen. Lock also
comes with a screen blanker that will activate
after a period of about 5 minutes. Pressing a key
while the blanker is in effect restores the screen.
Use: LANTools Lock [/m="Message Text"] [/p] [/q]
Parameters:
/m (Message Text - Optional) Message to display when
your machine is locked. If this parameter is not
specified, you will be prompted to enter this
information.
/p (Password - Optional) Password that will be used
to unlock your keyboard. If you do not specify
this parameter, you will be prompted to enter this
information. Maximum password length is 8 characters.
/q (Quiet Mode - Optional) do not clear the screen
when the program has completed.
/c (Color - Optional) Select a color from 1 -4
╒═════════════════╕
│ LANTools Logout │
╘═════════════════╛
Description: LANTools Logout is functionally equivalent to
Netware's LOGOUT.EXE. The difference is in the
interface. LANTools Logout allows you to prompt the
user with a colorful message, then reboot
(optionally) the machine when a specified time
period, or press of the enter key has been
performed.
Use: LANTools LOGOUT [/m="MESSAGE TEXT"] [/w=n] [/r] [/q]
Parameters
/m (Message Text - Optional): Use this parameter if you
would like to display a message to the user after he
has logged out. Note that when specifying a message,
you must use the " marks surrounding the message
text. If you do not specify a message, a generic
"You Have Been Logged Out" displays.
You can place a carat (^) in your text to display
two lines of text to the user. For instance:
LANTools Logout /m="You Are logged out^Thank You!"
You are limited to displaying two lines of text.
Each line of text can contain up to 60 characters.
/w (Wait time - Optional): Amount of time to wait before
ending the program. If not specified, 0 is assumed, which
means to wait until <Enter> is pressed.
/r (Reboot - Optional): Reboot the computer when the
program completes.
/q (Quiet Mode - Optional): Do not clear the screen when
the program is finished.
/c (Color - Optional) Select a color from 1 -4
╒═══════════════╕
│ LANTools Menu │
╘═══════════════╛
Description: LANTools Menu is a simple menu builder. You can create
a standard ASCII text file, and Menu will display the
menu items in a formatted screen.
Use: LANTools Menu /f=FileSpec [/c=1-4] [/q]
Returns: DOS Errorlevel (0=ESC was pressed, 1=Item 1, 2=Item 2...)
Paramters
/f Menu File Name to read. Example: LANTools Menu /f=MENU.TXT
<< Contents of MENU.TXT >>
File Management
Logout of Network
Accounting Functions
Send a Message
Select Network Printer
Attach to File Server
If the example file above was used, the DOS ERRORLEVEL returned
would be as follows:
0 - No Selection was made.
1 - File Management
2 - Logout
3 - Accounting
4 - Send a Message
5 - Select Network Printer
6 - Attach to File Server
You can process this ERRORLEVEL in a batch file. For more
information about DOS ERRORLEVELs and batch files, please
see your handy-dandy DOS manual. Also see SAMPLE.BAT for
an example of LANTools Menu.
/c Color for Menu. 1-4 are accepted
/q Do not clear the screen when finished.
╒══════════════════╕
│ LANTools Message │
╘══════════════════╛
Description: LANTools Message is a simple utility that allows
you to display messages to your users in a
formatted, consistent and colorful way. Users
do not need to have ANSI.SYS loaded, nor do you
have to check for monitor type.
Use: LANTools Message /m="Message Text" [/w=n] [/q]
Parameters
/m (Message Text - Required): This parameter tells
LANTools Message what to display. Note that the
message text must be surrounded by the quotation
(") marks.
You can place a carat (^) in your text to tell Message
to break the text into two lines. For instance:
LANTools Message /m="Hello There^Welcome Aboard"
You are limited to displaying two lines of text.
Each line of text is limited to 60 characters.
/w (Wait Time - Optional): Tells LANTools Message how
long to wait before ending the program. If you do
not specify a parameter, 0 is assumed, which means
to wait until <Enter> is pressed.
/q (Quiet Mode - Optional): Do not clear the screen
after the program ends.
/c (Color - Optional) Select a color from 1 -4
╒═══════════════════╕
│ LANTools Password │
╘═══════════════════╛
Description: LANTools Password is functionally equivalent to Netware's
SETPASS command. It allows your users to change their
login password. Difference is in the interface, and that
you can select to log the password to a text file.
Run without parameters, PASSWORD checks to see if the user's
password is about to expire (within 3 days). If so, the
user is prompted to enter his old and new password. If
correct, the user's password is changed at the file server.
If the /l=LOG parameter is used, PASSWORD writes all
password activity to a file called PW.LOG in the current
directory. Be careful! This feature is not meant for
any other reason than for the systems administrator to
track and document passwords used on his/her system.
Letting the PW.LOG file into the wrong hands, and your
system security will go down the drain.
Use: LANTools Password [/f] [/l=FILE.EXT]
Parameters
/f "Force" the password change. This could be used as a menu
selection item, so the users can change their password
whenever they want to. Without this parameter, PASSWORD
checks to see if the user's password is almost expired.
If not, the program ends.
/l Log all password change activity into the specified file.
For example: LANTools Password /f /l=f:\dat\pw.dat
Note: You should Hide the directory that contains the
password log file to keep prying eyes out of it. Also,
remember that the users must have Write, Modify, Read
and Open rights to this directory. If the file does
not already exist, they must also have Create rights.
Example Rights for directory that contains pw log file:
Netware 386 - [ R W M F ]
Netware 286 - [ R W M O S ]
╒═══════════════╕
│ LANTools Send │
╘═══════════════╛
Description: LANTools Send is functionally equivalent to
Netware's SEND.EXE. With LANTools Send, however,
the user interface is quite a bit more friendly and
colorful.
If you are attached to multiple servers (via Netware's
ATTACH or LANTools' ATTACH command), you can send
messages to users on other servers by using the
<Spacebar> while viewing the user list.
Use: LANTools Send [/q]
Parameters
/q (Quiet Mode - Optional) Do not clear the screen
after the program ends.
/c (Color - Optional) Select a color from 1 -4
╒══════════════════╕
│ LANTools TimeOut │
╘══════════════════╛
Description: LANTools TimeOut is a program that waits until a
specified time is reached, then returns a DOS
ERRORLEVEL. The program can be aborted by entering
in a specified password, which then a different DOS
ERRORLEVEL is returned. This returned value can be
tested in a batch file. A common use for this
utility is in Automated Tape procedures, such as
performing an automatic backup at 02:00.
<< Example TAPE.BAT >>
@echo off
cls
:LOOP
LANTools TimeOut /t=02:00 /p=wierd
if errorlevel 1 goto TAPE
if errorlevel 0 goto EXIT
:TAPE
tna2tape /a /q
goto LOOP
:EXIT
Use: LANTools TimeOut [/t=HH:MM] [/p=xxxxxxx]
Parameters
/t (Time - Optional) If specified, this is the time
that must be reached in order for TimeOut to end.
If not specified, you will be prompted to enter
this information. Note: Use 24 Hour Military
time!
/p (Password - Optional) If specified, this is the
password needed to abort the program. If not
specified, you will be prompted for this
information.
/q (Quiet Mode - Optional) Do not clear the screen
after this program ends.
/c (Color - Optional) Select a color from 1 -4
TimeOut Returns the following DOS ERRORLEVELS:
1 = Time Reached.
0 = Password Entered Correctly
╒═════════════════╕
│ LANTools WhoAmI │
╘═════════════════╛
Description: LANTools WhoAmI provides an informational display
containing vital information about the user who
is running it. Information such as the password
expiration date, connection number, ID number and
current print queue selected is displayed in a
nice box in the middle of the screen. The user
cannot change any of this information within this
function.
Use: LANTools WhoAmI [/q] [/c=1]
Parameters
/c (Color - Optional) Specify a color from 1 - 4
/q (Quiet Mode - Optional) Do not clear the screen when
this function ends.
╒═════════════════╕
│ LANTools YesBox │
╘═════════════════╛
Description: LANTools YesBox is another batch file enhancer.
With YesBox, you can place a message on the screen,
and have the user respond with the up or down arrow
keys to select either "Yes" or "No". Depending on
what the user selects, a DOS ERRORLEVEL is
returned. This returned value can be tested in a
batch file for conditional branching. You probably
have a utility that does this for you already, but
not as friendly and colorful as this one is!
The user cannot break out of this prompt. The only
valid keys while in this function are the Up and
Down arrow keys, and <Enter>.
Use: LANTools YesBox [/m="Message Text"] [/q]
Parameters
/m (Message Text - Optional) Whatever text you
specify in this parameter will be used as the title
for the yes/no box. If you do not specify a
parameter for this function, "Are You Sure" will be
used. Note that you must surround your text with
quotation (") marks, and are limited to 40
characters.
/q (Quiet Mode - Optional) Do not clear the screen
when the program ends.
/c (Color - Optional) Select a color from 1 -4
LANTools Yesbox Returns the following DOS ERRORLEVELS
1 = The "Yes" option was selected.
2 = The "No" option was selected.
╒═══════╕
│ Notes │
╘═══════╛
We are planning the following enhancements to LANTools:
1. Rolodex/Address Manager tied to EEMail's databases.
2. Map Assistant
3. Send/Receive Files between users.
If you have any ideas for enhancements, please let us know! While
we're here, here's a plug: Try Einstein Electronic Mail! You can
find it on CIS, or on our support BBS. You'll find the same easy-to
use functions in a professional, friendly electronic mail program for
Novell Networks.

│ Revision History │
╘══════════════════╛
Date Version Description
=========================================================================
05-03-91 1.0 Initial Release
=========================================================================
05-04-91 1.01 Changes to .DOC to show /c options,
/r=REBOOT in LOGOUT was missing in code.
=========================================================================
05-07-91 1.02 Missing multiple group checking in IsMember.
Added Online help when running LANTools without
parameters.
=========================================================================
05-10-91 1.03 SEND now shows users who are logged on. Also
added some information when a user is selected
to send a message.
Fixed a bug in MESSAGE that converted the text to
lower case, and added code to allow up to two
lines in most /m options.
=========================================================================
06-08-91 1.04 Fixed minor interface bugs. You'll probably not
notice most of them, but they bugged me. For
instance, when selecting a user in SEND, the
light bar is returned to that user after the
message is sent. Same kinda thing for CAPTURE.
=========================================================================
06-17-91 1.05 Another maintenance release.
This release, we worked on the CAPTURE command.
Now the user's previous capture flags are used
and displayed. You'll notice the extra screens
when the program is executed.
Another minor one, the color parameters were ignored
in SEND and CAPTURE. This is fixed. Still have
to work on the colors for /c=2,3 and 4. They're
pretty ugly right now...
=========================================================================
06-21-91 1.10 Added a new function, PASSWORD. This allows you
to test your user's password. If it close to
expiring (within 3 days), PASSWORD will prompt
your users for their password, and change it in
the bindery. This function is the only reason
I can think of right now to own a laptop. Instead
of staring at the walls waiting for a plane, I was
able to get some work done. Now if only I had
a cellular modem...
Another new one, MENU, allows you to create
a bounce-bar menu. Supply the file name containing
the menu items, and go. Returns a DOS ERRORLEVEL
depending on the item selected.
SEND was totally changed in this release. Now you
can send messages to groups. More information
and cleaner interface.
SEND and CAPTURE received a "Scroll Bar" function.
This helps the user tell where he is in the list
of things.
CAPTURE had an invalid maximum window length,
which "shadowed out" the userid in the footer
line if more than 11 print queues were available.
LIST was changed a bit. If you do not specify
a file name (/f=filespec) on the command line,
LIST will prompt you for one.
This version has also changed the way users are
prompted for their password in some functions.
Now, TIMEOUT and LOCK display "*" instead of
displaying the text of the password.
If a user does not enter a message text in LOCK,
a default of "I Am Away From My Desk" is now used.
The SAMPLE.BAT changed to add new functions.
Re-Run this again to see what's new. Edit that
batch file to see how you can interface this
stuff...
=========================================================================
06-24-91 1.11 Maintenance Release (so soon, you ask?)
Everyone bugged me about not verifying the NEW
password in PASSWORD. That's been corrected.
The user is asked to enter his new password
twice in this function. Also changed some
messages the user receives when something
happens to clarify the situation.
The User Listing Window box in SEND was 2 lines
too long. Woops. Should have looked at the
code for CAPTURE, it was the exact same.
=========================================================================
06-30-91 1.20 New Version 1.20
Added another new function, WhoAmI. This
is sorta like the WHOAMI.EXE program that Novell
provides, just a little deeper. Basically combines
some of the functionality of the Account
Restrictions in SysCon, WHOAMI's display, and
some other extras...
LOCK received a screen blanker. After an
inactivity period of about 5 minutes, the
screen will go blank, and a spinner will appear
in the lower right corner of your screen. This
will continue until a key is pressed. Fixed
a few minor interface problems in LOCK as well.
For instance, when pressing the <Esc> key to
type the password, if <Esc> is pressed again,
LOCK does not display the "Invalid Password"
message.
A problem in PASSWORD was fixed that caused the
"Minimum Password" error box to remain on the
screen.
The minimum password length no longer appears
when typing the OLD password in PASSWORD.
Changed a parameter in PASSWORD that allows you
to specify the drive:path\filename of the
password log file. For instance:
LANTools Password /f /l=g:\anything\new.dat
=========================================================================
07-16-91 2.00 New Version 2.00
ATTACH did not work. It probably never worked,
but I did not hear anything about it, and there
is just one server in our office so it went
unnoticed. This new version takes care of all
the problems this program had. In addition to
the Bug fixes, the password field is blanked out
like other password fields.
The most important feature of this new release
is in the SEND and CAPTURE commands. Both
of these new commands now support multi-server
environments. If you need to capture to a
printer on a different server, or send a
message to a user on a remote server, you no
longer need to make that your default server.
SEND now allows users with Supervisor
equivalence to send "anonymous" messages. This
means that your user ID is not sent along with
the message (just like BROADCAST from the
file server).
CAPTURE received many other small changes, most
have to do with Multi-Server environments. Other
changes include the ability to End Capture from
any port (previously it selected only your default
port). Many Interface changes.
A new command, CheckPass has been added. This is
a very simple utility that allows you to prompt
the user for a password. If entered correctly,
a DOS ERRORLEVEL of 1 is returned. Incorrect
entries return a DOS ERRORLEVEL of 0.
=========================================================================
07-16-91 2.01 Maintenance Release
A bug in SEND caused non-supervisor users to
receive an error message after pressing the
<Enter> key to send the message and return to DOS.
This problem is now corrected...woops!
=========================================================================
08-10-91 2.10 New Version
A typo disabled the Multi-Server functions.
They're back!
PASSWORD got a few cosmetic changes. For one,
the opening screen displays a brief message
about changing your password. A bug in the
date logic caused the program to ignore when
a user's password was about to expire. The
program now checks the password expiration
date, and if it's within 4 days, a prompt
displays to change it..
The Yes/No dialog boxes would not accept the

do now...
Is there anyone out there? Please tell us if
you like this program, or even if you don't.
We'd like to know!

08-13-91 2.20 New Version
A new command, DEFAULTQ has been added. This
command allows you to set up default print
queues for each user, then execute them
in the login process or any other time. Please
see the section "DEFAULTQ" above for more
information on this command.

08-15-91 2.21 Maintenance Release
DefaultQ had some problems, as expected in any
new command. The command checks for SUPERVISOR
equivalence to install the program. However, our
logic was not right, and no one could install
the default print queues...yikes!
In the proces of fixing DefaultQ, we added a
new parameter to the command, /U. This allows
you to Un-Install DefaultQ should you decide
to use another method of obtaining the user's
default print queue.

No program is bug free. We try to make programs that do their job, but
some bugs inevitably crawl into programs. That's a fact of life. If you
find a bug, please let us know so we can correct it. The following is
a list of bugs we know about and are working to correct:
ATTACH - In Netware 386, if you do not use the command "SET UNENCRYPTED
PASSWORDS = OFF", ATTACH will not work. I would not recommend that you
set this option at the file server just to use ATTACH, since Netware's
security may be compromised if you do. If you are using pre 3.00 shells,
or are using Netware 286 version 2.1x, then you are already allowing
unecrypted passwords, and you will not notice this problem. We are
working on this one...
PASSWORD - In Netware 386, if you are using Encrypted Passwords, PASSWORD
will not work. Password will flag you that the server is encrypted,
and the password will not be changed. Basically same as ATTACH...
